U2 CD Trading -- Information and Guidelines
The Edge on bootlegs: "I have no problems with bootlegs . . . if people make recordings and give them to their friends -- as long as people dont get ripped off." - August 9, 1997

NOTE: I will not copy commercial material (even if it is out of print). I only trade live shows -- audience recordings and radio broadcasts -- and some demos.

Trading ratios:
Same medium=1.1
TAPE for VIDEO=2.1 (eg., one PopMart show fits on two audio tapes, one video)
TAPE for CD=3.1 (tapes are quite inferior)
CD for VIDEO=2.1 (eg., one PopMart show fits on two cds, one video)

Digital (cd) medium:
1. I use digital cable for completely digital recordings, providing the best possible copy on my Philips (stereo componant) cd-recorder. Let me know your recording methods.
2. CD material varies (Maxell, TDK, Memorex, Imation, Sony, etc.). I use whatever it takes to produce a quality copy.
3. Mail WITH jewel case.
4. Include track listing, location, and date on cover, if you cant do this, lets not trade.
5. Include source and generation (if known) on card.
6. I do not copy commercial releases, such as Pop, singles, and movie soundtracks.

Analogue (tape) medium:
1. Maxell XL II, 60 minute and 90 minute cassettes (100 minute tapes sometimes accepted). Fresh blanks. No 110 or 120 minute tapes.
2. No high-speed dubbing.
3. No dolby or noise reduction of any kind.
4. Mail WITHOUT cases, in padded envelope.
5. Include track listing, location, and date on J-card, if you cant do this, lets not trade.
6. Include source and generation (if known) on J-card.

Video (NTSC format) medium:
1. Maxell golds or better, 120 or 160. As the 160s cost more, I trade 1:1 on these.
2. SP mode ONLY, NTSC format. Do not send tapes in SLP mode.
3. Sorry, no PAL coversions.
4. Hi-fi to hi-fi dubbing, stereo.

Shipping:
1. First class postage in U.S., in padded enevelopes.
2. Non-U.S. trades, must negotiate. I really cant afford to engage in too many overseas trades.
3. Send tapes/cds promptly.

If your guidelines differ from mine, let me know, otherwise I trade according to the above. The guidelines above are part of the trade agreement, so please take notice.
U2 CD Archives
Digital means digital! I use digital cable and a Philip's stereo component cd-r to make digital copies!--even better than the real thing.
